I am Dr. Laura Oliver, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC) in Arizona. I serve as a counselor educator and clinical faculty member in a graduate counseling program, where I teach, supervise, and mentor future mental health professionals.
With more than sixteen years of combined clinical practice, academic teaching, and professional training, my work supports adults navigating trauma, complex stress, relational patterns, identity development, burnout, and neurodivergent lived experiences. My clinical lens is grounded in humanistic values, parts-informed understanding, somatic awareness, and the belief that meaningful healing occurs through safety, attunement, and empowered insight.
In addition to clinical practice, I serve as a counselor educator and have taught a wide range of graduate-level courses, including Trauma & Crisis Intervention, Human Growth and Development, Professional Orientation to Mental Health Counseling, Career Development, and Addiction Counseling. My academic background includes bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral training in counseling, clinical mental health, and counselor education and supervision.
I remain actively involved in the professional community through leadership and service on faculty search, admissions, and faculty engagement committees; mentorship within the Arizona Counseling Association; and participation in the World Association of Sand Therapy Professionals, the American Counseling Association, EMDRIA, NBCC, and APA. Beyond academia, I engage in community-based projects that promote connection and healing through accessible creative arts experiences. I have contributed to publications and frequently present on EMDR, sandtray therapy, imposter syndrome, professional identity development, and the use of creativity as a reflective self-care practice.

These modalities inform an approach that is both structured and eeply relational—integrating neuroscience, somatic regulation, expressive therapeutic processes, and trauma-responsive interventions. My work emphasizes attunement, internal coherence, emotional steadiness, and the capacity to move through life with greater clarity and self-leadership.
Across my career, I have worked with hundreds of adults seeking stability, growth, and deeper understanding. Whether supporting trauma resolution, attachment repair, or identity exploration, I strive to build a therapy space that is grounded, collaborative, and respectful of each person’s lived experience.

I maintain this page for professional visibility and for visitors seeking background information about my clinical and academic work. At this time, due to ongoing clinical teaching commitments and a full educational consultation caseload, I am not accepting new psychotherapy clients for the year 2026.
My current professional focus is on educational and consultation services related to ADHD and neurodevelopmental needs. Thank you for your understanding.
